An announcement was made on June 11th 2007 concerning the Lost Colony Center for Science and Research Symposium, which was to be held In Williamston, NC at the Holiday Inn on September 11th 2007. This press release resulted in 234,000 newspapers, bloggers, and websites picking up the story from the AP wire service, which originated from the Virgina Pilot Newspaper. Authored by Catherine Kozack, over 10,000 e-mails have been received by individuals reguarding information for testing surnames related to Coastal Indians of North Carolina who are presumedly assimilated and inculturated from the 1587 Lost Colony.

The Lost Colony Center for Science and Research was very fortuante to partner with a very experienced DNA expert, Roberta Estes. The Center researched the 168 Indian surnames for ten years before Roberta came to work for us. Unfortunately, when very strong minded people work together conflicts arise. After a very successful symposium, both parties agreed to go their own ways and Roberta Estes started her own successful Lost Colony DNA Program.
